Take Time Off to Relax, De-stress and Re-energize
By Cheryl Cullison
When was the last time you took some time off? I am not referring to your regular day off each week when you may need to clean your home, wash your clothes, run errands, or take your children to their school activities. I am referring to real time off. When you are able to enjoy your day and be in the moment. You do not need to be concerned about following a schedule. You do not need to focus on work or all of the things that need to get done. A day or several days set aside to take care of you.
I believe it is very important to set aside a day or two on a regular basis to enjoy your life and live in the moment. These days many people are going, going and going non-stop. After awhile it can drain your energy and cause unnecessary stress. When this occurs it may be challenging to focus on the responsibilities that you need to complete. It may block your creativity. You may also become ill.
That is why taking some time off to relax and have fun is so important. It may seem that you will not be able to accomplish as much as you would like to, but if you are sick or unable to focus, then it will be very challenging to finish your to do list.
There are so many ways you can relax and enjoy your day, or days off. Here are a few ideas to get you thinking about ways to enjoy your time off.
• A day at the beach - During the summer you may want to spend some time at the beach. Maybe pack a picnic filled with water, ice tea, fresh fruit, a green salad, chicken, or a pasta or bean salad. The beach can get hot so it may be good to bring food that is light on your digestive system. Also, it is good to not stay in the sun too long and avoid getting sunburned. Some ideas that may help with this are to bring a beach umbrella for shade, all-natural sunscreen, sunglasses and a hat.
• Rent a cabin - If the beach is not your idea of having fun, then renting a cable could be another way to get away from it all for a night or two. Some cabins have outdoor activities for you to explore while you stay. This may be nice for a family vacation or a romantic adventure for you and your spouse.
• A day at the zoo - Visiting the zoo could be a nice way to get away from it all. Here you can spend the day watching the animals play and have fun. It is also a great way to get some exercise from all the walking you will do when you are there.
Getting away from it all can be beneficial for your family, your career and yourself. It can also become a nice tradition for you to do throughout the year.
